The Yangdong Y380T & Y385T China diesel engine has a hydraulic gear pump that is powered off the timing gears on the front of the engine.
The factory engine parts book identifies the hydraulic pump drive shaft as the liquid pump connecting shafe.
Over time we have had a few replacement part inquires and in shop repair request with the complaint of the hydraulic pump not working with a known good hydraulic pump. The reason we are using the wording a few is because .... verses the number of this engines that have been sold over the years, Thousands !.
What we have found is that for whatever reason ? ... there are two different lengths of pump drivers within the engine side shaft/gear assembly. When the shorter pump driver is used the shaft of the hydraulic pump drive gear does not fit into the slot of the drive shaft deep enough and therefore causes the end of the shaft to round out.
The pictures below shows a Y385 that came into the shop that needed the pump re-build and we found this one had the short shaft and had started to round out the end.
The easiest way to ensure you have the correct depth / fit is to have the pump in one hand the drive assembly in the other and fit them together.
Have the length of the shaft when calling for a replacement pump drive shaft.
